A Variation On Two      (04:16)

Created 7/6/03 as an entry at songfight.org. I like how the violin pattern interacts with the lead guitar pattern in the verses. The solo section is actually my favorite part of this song. It's a fair solo (I like where the guitar does some sort or interesting mode at the end) but I really like how the backing sounds. Also I'm still pretty happy with the lyric imagery. Frankenstein's gentle beauty and slipping away with the fools. The chorus vocals are a bit odd, but I still sorta like them. It's not classic harmony, shall we say, but they sorta play off the rhythm in an off-kilter way.

Album: songfight
Credits: words and music by bf baker. bf baker: guitars, bass, synth violin, OB-1 synth solo, drums, vocals.

A Variation On Two

Like Frankenstein's gentle monster
Sipping tea and picking flowers
There's a beauty in you
I'm one part Abbot and Costello
Call me the lucky fellow
Karloff's crying on cue

Ain't no sublime love story
Gonna come from me and you
We're just a crazy variation on two

Well maybe Cage and VanGoh
With blue paint and a piano
Then take a match and strike it
Filmed in 3D by Warhol
Sets and costumes by UHaul
It may incite a riot

Ain't no sublime love story
Gonna come from me and you
We're just a crazy variation on two

And maybe Dino de Laurentis
And his cast of thousands to resent us
Could part the waters in two
Where we would journey to our climax
Wow every crowd at every Imax
With something totally new
And then my gypsy and her hunchback
With iris focused on his knapsack
Could slip away with the fools
Like fragile Adrianne and Rocky
With a handy mileau we can copy
It might be crazy but true

Ain't no sublime love story
Gonna come from me and you
We're just a crazy variation on two
